The Steve Sinnott Foundation

EFA at Carnival 2016

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Carnival 18A highlight of this year’s Education for All awareness project was our partnership with Cocoyea who invited the Foundation to join them for Children’s Day at London’s Notting Hill Carnival on Sunday 29th August.

The carnival artists at Cocoyea were celebrating 35 years of participating in carnival. The Foundation teamed up with them for this special fun event with a serious purpose.

Children and young people taking part shared learning and understanding of different cultures and the tradition of carnival through storytelling. The focus was on the countries in which the Foundation is working at present such as Haiti, Sierra Leone and Nepal.

Participants were involved in arts and crafts, costume design, music, food, drumming and dancing. It was a truly sensory experience taking part in activities and stories reflecting the variety of experiences of education and cultural diversity that people have in the UK and around the world.

And, specially for the occasion, we made a Carnival mix of the Education for All song ‘A Better Place to Be’. Click and play
